Purpose
To coordinate the Production Technology
aspects of the execution phase of the LNG
project. Key PT aspects include optimization
of the completion design, designing/optimizing
the fracture stimulation and clean-up phases
and ensuring smooth commissioning and
production optimization of the high number of
required LNG wells (15 wells per year). This
should be executed at the lowest cost, while
delivering the required gas volumes and at the
same time ensuring appropriate well integrity
and safety standards.
Accountabilities *
Coordination and optimization of all PT
activities in LNG wells to ensure sufficient
gas/condensate capacity is delivered against
departmental plans.
* PT Focal point for the LNG project wells
towards drilling, stimulation, testing,
production and surface engineering staff.
* Updating of (and ensuring adherence to)
production technology - related LNG well
design-, operations- and integrity standards
and continuous improvement of relevant
performance indicators identified in these
standards.
* Design of completion updates and stimulation
operations for all LNG gas wells and verify
design against actual conditions and results.
* Supervision and development of junior
production technologists at JG 5 and at times
JG 4 levels.
Dimensions Optimizing the
completion, stimulation, testing,
commissioning and early production of the LNG
wells is required to keep a good handle on the
available budget, especially in the light of a
large number of concurrent operations and the
tight gas production deadlines. As an
illustration budget for fraccing and testing
alone of the LNG wells is $ 40 million per
year for 2002 and 2003. Cost of completion
materials in the same wells is $12 million per
year.
The technical complexity and scale of the LNG
project encourages the LNG PT team to become a
centre of excellence of deep well stimulation,
completion design and HPHT fracced well
operation.
The LNG team leader will head a team of 3
production technologists, including 2
field-based staff and is focal point for the
drilling department, deep well
stimulation/testing departments, and the gas
production and engineering departments on all
PT-LNG matters.
Special
challenges * Optimization of
completion, stimulation, testing and
commissioning operations to reduce total LNG
development cost as much as possible, while at
the same time delivering the required volumes
of gas.
* Ensure full cooperation from petroleum
engineers, well stimulation and test personnel
and production operations & surface
engineering staff to deliver sound LNG project
wells in the cheapest possible way against
fixed gas team production capacity deadlines.
Development
opportunities Mentoring and
supervision of 3 staff.
Building up expertise in hydraulic fracturing
and deep gas developments.
Experience & Qualifications required
* University degree in science.
* 4-8 Years experience in Production
Technology within a Gas company or unit.
* Good working knowledge of all phases of well
construction, operation and abandonment
* Experience in at least one (preferably more)
of the following areas:
- gas well completion technology and tubing
stress analysis
- hydraulic fracturing stimulations in gas
reservoirs
- gas inflow and vertical flow performance
* Must be able to discuss and understand
petroleum engineering, drilling, production
and surface engineering matters with relevant
specialists such that execution of LNG
development project proceeds in a smooth
manner from drilling through to production
optimization.
* Must be able to maintain a good working
relationship with other company staff, with
officials at the Ministry of Oil and Gas and
with SIEP/SEPTAR and industry experts such
that there is a common understanding and
support of the planned activities and optimum
use is made of available expertise.
* Should have good presentation skills, be a
good communicator and able to harmonise
activities across functional boundaries by
diplomacy.
* Fluent in written and spoken English
