Refining Specialist

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: BS Chemical Engineering
Experience: 10 years. Has extensive experience in fuel specification, fuel stability, fuel additives/detergent and refined products blending and optimization. Experience with process stimulation and refinery linear programming; proficiency with a PC; and in leading cross-functional teams and possesses excellent written/oral presentation skills.

Is a corporate technical authority on refining issues. Conducts feasibility studies of refinery operation and troubleshoots operational problems. Audits/reviews existing refinery operations to identify improvement opportunities and to evaluate existing problems and propose alternative remedies. In collaboration with other internal and external organizations, conducts or directs applied research in refining to select and optimize refinery catalysts. Consults on refinery standards and specifications for procuring new/replacement plant equipment. Directs the preparation of design guidelines for use in the solution of unusual problems. Reviews long-range refinery trends and applies new technologies to existing operations. Evaluates vendor and contractor capabilities to determine their suitability. Reviews and provides comments on major refinery projects. Determines refinery course/seminar content and conducts advanced classes for refinery engineers. Mentors young engineers.
