Purpose of the Job

Plan, program and coordinate the execution of well construction activities on the rig(s) under his/her control in line with the clients Operational, Health, Safety and Environmental standards and in accordance with customer requirements.

Experience/Qualifications Needed

A professional graduate Well engineer in possession of a degree or equivalent qualification (HTS/HND) in a relevant science discipline. A minimum of 5 years experience in Well Engineering, including 2 years wellsite. The incumbent should possess a working knowledge of the well construction process from initial design to completion. He/she must be a team player/builder with good interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels and be capable of motivating and stimulating subordinates to achieve breakthrough performance. Possession of the Round 2 certificate / IWCF is an essential requirement.

 

Principal Accountabilities

Ø      Plan, program and coordinate the execution of well construction activities on the rig(s) under his/her control to deliver quality wells on time and within budget.

Ø      Prepare the engineering design of wells in conformance with the Corporate/Functional Code of Practices and Procedures, including structured risk analysis for high exposure operations.

Ø      Coordinate the programming, gathering, reporting and distribution of well data; evaluate the quality of well engineering data and participate in the quality evaluation of reservoir related data.

Ø      Coordinate the activities and monitor the technical performance of Service Contractors against agreed indicators, in particular for sub-surface related activities; measure the quality and cost effectiveness of the services and products delivered by the Service Contractors.

Ø      Enhance the design and programming quality of drilling, workover and well completion activities by optimising proven techniques and practices and implementing new technology and innovative operating methods; evaluate and report results; contribute to the development, upgrading and maintenance of drilling and completion standards.

Ø      Visit rigs at least once per month. Review all incidents occurring on his/her Rig(s) Assist in the investigation of all LTI incidents for all drilling and service contractors on his/her Rig(s).

Ø      Develop competency of staff involved in operations on his/her rigs
